Rafflesia Tour
In search of a forest wonder.
Follow a local guide through the green landscape of Batu Katak or Tulang Gepang in search of the rare Rafflesia—one of Sumatra’s most extraordinary natural treasures.
A Rafflesia bloom lasts only a few days. Contact us before your visit so our local network can check whether a flower is expected to open.
A journey shaped by patience, timing and local knowledge.
Rafflesia spends most of its life hidden from view before producing a dramatic flower for only a very short period. Because every bloom is unpredictable, finding one requires current information from people who know the surrounding forest.
The tour is therefore more than a walk to a single flower. It is an opportunity to discover the plants, animals, village landscapes and river environments around Batu Katak or Tulang Gepang with an experienced local guide.
Nature without a timetable.
The flower develops over many months but remains open for only a few days. Its rarity means that guests should treat every confirmed bloom as a privilege, move carefully and follow the instructions of the local guide.
From Bukit Lawang to the forest floor.

What to bring.
Conditions can be wet and muddy. Pack light, protect electronics from water and wear footwear suitable for uneven forest paths.
Leave the flower untouched.
Rafflesia and its host plant are extremely sensitive. Guests must stay on the route indicated by the guide, avoid stepping near buds, never touch the flower and carry all waste back out of the forest.
Ask the forest before you choose your date.
Send your travel dates and number of guests. Our team will contact local guides, check the most recent bloom information and explain the available options.
