Our 3 Hours Happy Trek is suitable for travellers with limited time, families with children, or guests who prefer a shorter rainforest walk. Your guide will help you look for orangutans, monkeys, gibbons, birds, reptiles and other jungle wildlife.
Orangutan experience
Explore orangutan habitat with a knowledgeable local guide. Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Your guide collects you from your guesthouse or hotel in Bukit Lawang.
Morning
Enter the national park
Walk through Gunung Leuser National Park while looking for orangutans, Thomas leaf monkeys, gibbons, macaques, hornbills, peacocks and monitor lizards.
During the trek
Learn about the rainforest
Your guide explains the wildlife, flora, fauna and traditional medicinal plants found in the jungle.
Return
Walk or jungle taxi
Walk back to Bukit Lawang or choose traditional tube rafting for an additional €10 per person.

Are orangutan sightings guaranteed?
No. Orangutans and other animals are wild, so sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Can children join?
Yes, depending on the child’s walking ability and the current trail conditions.
Is lunch included?
No. Jungle lunch can be arranged in advance for an additional charge.
Must I return by rafting?
No. You may walk back. Tube rafting is optional and costs €10 per person.
