Bukit Lawang 6 days deep into the jungle trek.


Day 01 :

After breakfast, your guide will collect you at 8.30am from your guesthouse and you will start your journey into the jungle of Gunung Leuser National Park to see wild orangutans. On your trek (6-7 hours) your guide will educate you on the local wildlife, flora and fauna you may encounter in Gunung Leuser. After lunch, you will continue your trek to see other wildlife (if you’re lucky you may see the Thomas’ leaf monkey, white-handed gibbon, black gibbon, long-tailed macaque, pig-tailed macaque, hornbills, peacocks and monitor lizards) and learn about the trees/plants which can be used in traditional medicine.

Late afternoon-your guide will select a suitable spot next to a small river in the depths of the forest (Perbatasan) to set-up camp. Spend your free time swimming, help prepare dinner or even learn some jungle skills. Before settling down to sleep surrounded by the sounds of the jungle and river.

Day 02 :
After breakfast get ready for continue the trek. Walk around 6-7 hours go to the next camp site, searching for orangutan and other wildlife. Discovering medicinal plants and jungle-food: learning their use and preparation. After a walk from the jungle, walk continues along the river to reach the camp site. Take a rest at the camp and a swim in the river and get a hot drink. Preparation of dinner.  

Day 03 :
Get ready for the trek. Walk around 6-7 hours along the river to the next camp while searching for signs of wild orangutan nests and other wildlife tracks, collect jungle-vegetables for dinner. Learn how to make the jungle-camp and how to prepare jungle-dinner. 

Day 04 :
Get ready for the trek. The camp will not move this day, trek around the camp for 5-6 hours searching for wild orangutans and other animals, collecting jungle-vegetables for dinner. Around 6 p.m. watch animals in the salt lake, where they come to drink to get iron from the stone. Preparation of dinner.  

Day 05 :
Start walk to next camp Walk around 5-6 hours in the jungle, searching for wild orangutans and other animals. Take a rest at the camp and get hot drink and then take a swim in the clean jungle river. Preparation of dinner.

Day 06 :
Conclude your adventure with a short trek, before rafting ‘jungle style’ down the Bohorok river to your village accommodation, passing beautiful green hills stretching alongside the river. If you’re lucky, you may also spot groups of monkeys in the trees, monitor lizards and much more.

What you have to bring :  

Good walking-boots or shoes.

sports-sandals or flip-flops for walking in the river.

Insect repellent and medicine.

Towel, short pants,swimming suit.light trousers and long sleeved tops (an extra set of clean and dry clothes for the night) head torch or flashlight.  

one bottle of big water 1,5 liter and after that your guide will be refill the water at the campsite
